THE HARD WORK OF HAPPINESS

Picture
It is my belief that everything we do, yes everything, is oriented toward making some part of ourselves happy.

But what makes one part of us happy will inevitably infuriate another part. How can we successfully live in the tension of our parts?

In this talk I discuss happiness in terms of three ways of interconnected living: The Pleasurable Life, The Good Life, and The Meaningful Life. True happiness is hard work but it's worth the effort.

My book The Hard Work Of Happiness will be released in the Fall of 2018.

TEAM TRAINING - S.T.A.R. METHOD

Picture
Using the Enneagram, Adult Attachment & Internal Family Systems I explain how the unconscious works and how to understand why we do what we do.

We typically do not think about our unconscious but that doesn't mean we can't. Once you understand your personality, how you attach to others and how to work with the various parts of yourself you will have a fair unfair advantage in life and work.

There are two types of team training: Team Focused and Individual Focused.

Team focused training seeks to improve team performance through better communication and team building activities.

Individual Focused training seeks to help the individual understand deeper, unconscious parts of themselves first then to understand each member of the team as unique individuals. Below is an example of a S.T.A.R. diagram. S.T.A.R. stands for Subconscious Temperament w/ Automatic Reactions.

POLYPSYCHOLOGY

If asked what is the most profound insight I have gained after nearly fifteen years as a psychotherapist I would say that of our minds functioning in multiplicity or parts.

This talk begins with an overview of the mental model of multiplicity, Polypsychology, then offers instructions on working with your parts to create happiness, healing and hope.

Walt Whitman summed up multiplicity beautifully in his poem,
Song of Myself:

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes."
