This song was written after a conversation with a client. His desire for an open heart inspired and challenged me. May we all follow his lead and grasp the profound truth that opening our hearts is the beginning of all good change.

OPEN YOUR HEART

by Reb Buxton

Like a bankrupt business/In  a dying part of town

Your heart is locked up/And the shades drawn down

No one comes in/And you never go out

The light in your eyes/Has been gone for a while

Hard days are easy/But the easy ones hard

Cant find any peace/In this junkyard

And the pain took more/Than it ever gave back

Why don’t you open the door/Even just a little crack

Ya missing so much/And we miss you

Why don’t you open up your heart/You’ve got some work to do

Now you went to therapy/And made your amends

You said you were sorry/To your family and your friends

Now you are the one/Who can see the darkened eyes

Of those who are scared/And running from the light

(Now you tell them) Ya missing so much /And we miss you

Why don’t you open up your heart/You’ve got some work to do

If we want to be real/And tell the truth

We all need open hearts/We got some work to do
